Course Description

The Modern Dental Assisting: DA Level I Certification course at Dental Staff Institute consists of 104 hours of lecture/lab preparation and a 12 hour hands-on clinical externship in a general dental office with a practicing dentist. Learning consists of a combination of live lecture, remote lecture and hands on clinical coursework. Students completing the program will obtain a Dental Assistant (DAI) certificate. Students will also obtain a Dental Radiography certificate, OSHA certificate, Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certificate and a CPR/AED card at the end of the course. The state of North Carolina recognizes all of the certificates issued. Students will be able to accept a position upon completion of the program.

Externship:

The dental externship is required once the student has completed the thirteen-week training preparations. This 12 hour experience will allow for review of all the techniques and skills developed over the previous weeks. Students must complete all hours within six weeks of the last day of class. Students will graduate and receive their certificates once the externship is complete.

Prerequisites:

Students must be high school (or equivalency) graduates. Prrof must be supplied upon enrollment in the form of a transcript or diploma. Degrees granted outside of the United States must be translated and certified by a service such as IEE.
