This course satisfies the dental radiography requirements of the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners allowing students who successfully complete all three days of the course to legally take dental radiographs in a North Carolina clinical setting.

ATTENTION: The North Carolina Dental Board has increased the number of course hours required from 14 hours to 21 hours. This is now the required minimum in order to legally take radiographs on patients in the State. Though there may be schools who have not updated their courses, both the NC Dental Board and the NC State Board of Proprietary Schools have indicated that there is the potential for rescinding certificates if the course does not meet these standards. This would mean that you would be taking radiographs illegally on patients. We do not think that this is a chance you or your doctor should take.

DURATION: Hybrid 3-day SATURDAY/SATURDAY/SUNDAY certificate course
7 hours remote lecture via live Zoom the first Saturday
14 hours clinical work on manikins at the school the second Saturday and Sunday

PREREQUISITES: High School Diploma or equivalency, no experience is necessary.

The written exam is an online multiple-choice test that has been approved by the NC State Board of Dental Examiners. Students have a week to complete the exam once the lecture day is finished. A grade of 80% or higher on the written portion is necessary to take the clinical portion of class. During the clinical portion, you will be guided by experienced instructors through all the steps to properly take radiographs on a dental manikin with both digital and film as well as processing and mounting an analog and digital full-mouth series.  A grade of at least 80% is needed on the clinical exam to pass the course.

*You are not considered enrolled in the course unless full payment is received.

*You will need to upload proof of your high school graduation or equivalent in order to receive your certificate at the end of the class.

An email will be sent out a few days before your class. This email will have instructions on how to set up your student account in the online classroom. Further instructions on how to upload your proof of eligibility and the links to your lectures and course materials will be inside.

NOTE: If you hold a dental radiography certificate from another state, are an experienced assistant from another state or are a foreign dentist, you are eligible to register with us for the single-day Challenge Exam Course instead which includes the examinations without lecture time.
